LappeanLohi is located on the shore landscape of Lapland’s most important salmon river, the River Tornionjoki, set by a confluence of two free-flowing rivers teeming with fish. Our guests returning year after year appreciate Lappea’s laidback communal spirit and considerate service. Expert instructions and assistance are provided by our professional salmon guides.

The trolling areas of Lappea are visited year after year by enthusiastic fishermen seeking to catch the wild salmon of the Baltic Sea that migrates up the river in huge schools every year. “It’s worth fishing for salmon, even if you don’t get a catch”, is a legendary phrase among salmon fishermen. The migration lasts the entire summer, with salmon weighing 4 - 20 kilograms migrating in the early season and in the end of the season mainly adult males weighing 1.5 - 2.5 kg. These male salmon disturb the large waiting salmon, so it is a good time for salmon fishing. In the rapid sections of Lappea, you can also catch grayling and pike.

The fishing area covers an approximate distance of four kilometres. The area comprises three pools.

We arrange also guided fishing trips to the lakes nearby (for example Ylläs area).

LappeanLohi sits atop a handsome cliff, on the shores of the wild and free-flowing Tornionjoki River and around the halfway point of Lappea’s highly renowned salmon still waters. LappeanLohi is only around 30 kilometres from Kolari (nearest railway station) and approximately 45 kilometres from Pello. You can reach Lappean Lohi from Kittilä Airport approximately in 1 hour and 20 minutes and from Rovaniemi in approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

Accommodation is provided in pleasant rooms with plenty of character in the converted old village school. Accommodation in summertime is also provided in traditional camping cabins, or you can even park your mobile home or caravan in our open grounds.

Our cafeteria caters to passing visitors and residents alike, serving pastries and fresh coffee or a cool drink for quenching the thirst in a summer period. There’s plenty going on in the LappeanLohi grounds during the summertime, as the salmon from the Baltic Sea, Salmo salar, ascends the river for breeding and attracts plenty of fishing enthusiasts. We hire out boats and fishing equipment suitable for salmon fishing, we sell fishing permits, and we can also arrange professional fishing guides to assist you in catching your salmon.
